I've just changed the rear pads on my 1200GS. First time I've ever changed pads on a bike.

I've done a few miles on it and noticed that the brake caliper is getting hot. Is this just the brake pads bedding in?? The brakes were binding a little after first installation of the pads but the wheel is now rotating quite freely.

There might be just a little too much fluid in the rear brake circuit?

Is the disc getting hot to? The heat generated under normal braking should not cause the caliper to get hot. It is more than likely the rear pads are slightly binding causing the disc to heat up which in turn will heat the pads, pistonsand caliper. You might need to the strip the rear caliper and make sure the pistons in the caliper are free from crud as well as the pins the caliper and pads are located on.

Yes - it is the disc and pads in unison.

I gave everything a good clean before I pushed the pistons back in to fit the new pads. Also gave the pin a good clean and greased it up.

Its binding less than it was when first installed. I've only done 30miles on it.
