Just got back from Ardrossan after a weekend of fun and frolicks on the sea! - it was hot to start with, then HUGE winds in the middle of the Clyde, peshed down at Lamlash, got boarded by HM Customs and Excise (looking for stow away kids I think!!), got sea sick for the first time in my life, lost the radio mast (so muggins had to go up a 45ft mast to lash the cables away (shat myself when the boat rocked!).

The new restaurant/bistro (cuccini's) at the harbour is worth a visit by the way).

And.......can anyone name the submarine??

All in all - not a bad way to spend a weekend though.

Wow - you telling me that the lost sub has now been found??? - (tell you what, it was a feckin HUGE thing and went like the clappers!!)

Yes Ronno - Arthur is a great name for a fast nuclear attack sub!

Tartan Terror - yes it is nice, but really it's just a floating 'posh' caravan!

Picture of me up the mast - spot the vomit.

Mike - your a brave man climbing up that mast

I reckon it might be either 'Bruinvis' or "Zeeleeuw"

30 years ago my job was photographing submarines (amongst other things)

Skye - I thin kit was flying a US Navy flag - about 1/2 before a US Cruiser sailed out too. I thin kthey must be going up North to blow the smitherines out of a rock or something.

Looks like a trawler's-eye view of a surfacing sub?? :nenau

I'd guess at an Oberon class ?? :nenau

Pretty sure its a Dutch 'Walrus' class submarine such as the "Bruinvis" They regularly use Faslane as far as I know.

Spot on Skye - I thought the flag was either Dutch or US :thumb:thumb:thumb (ps - you use the bosun's chair on the electric winch to get up - sore on the bollarks though!)

GArf - you get to keep Wully's nuke in your shed in Dalkeith

YOU WIN the next sail on the Beneteau 46 as soon as I can get the puke off the decks!

We used to take the photos of the subs from one of the MOD Police launches.

We had a competition to see who could get the closest to an approaching sub, I won  Mind you the Police coxwain got a bollocking afterwards

I reckon you are right with an Oberon Class ;)
