Advice please,guys...

Just got back from an evening 'fish and chip' run, during which my heated grips packed up.
They are BMW ones, with 2 heat settings and neither of them worked.
On getting home,I checked the fuse, and it had blown.
It was a 3 amp fuse.
I only had a 5 amp,so put it in and all is well, for now.

QUESTION...does anyone know the wattage of these grips,so I can work out if the 3 amp fuse was undersize?

I usually run them on the hottest setting,so the fuse may just have been on its limit,as where it had blown the ends were just melted blobs rather than splattered apart ,which is normal with a short circuit.

Cheers.

Usually when a fuse goes and its got "blobby ends", it just been slightly overloaded. I cant help you with the fuse rating as my manual is in the car and its freezin outside, im stayin in.

As you say Den slightly overloaded, it should be a 4 amp.

Thanks chaps !!

I`ve just found it in the Haynes Book of Lies,F7 4 amp.
Didn`t expect to see it there,as they`re an option, but I suppose the wiring has to be there from build up.

Thanks again,anyway.
