Hotels in the Highlands

Hi All fellow Tossers,

A group of us from my work take an annual trip to your beautiful country for a long weekend every year, generally late April or early May.
For the past few years we have stayed in Lochearnhead and the Isle of Glencoe Hotel.
The isle of Glencoe, we all agreed was superb, both food and location and at £60 per night including an evening meal was excellent value.

I thought by trying to book early for next year I would get some decent prices but have been given a price of £80 which when you are going for 3 to 4 nights hikes the price up considerably.
I have also tried the Hollytree hotel which has given me the same price as Glencoe.

So question is can any of yee locals recommend a similarly good place to stay in the fabulous highlands but no further north from than say Fort William.

The Bridge of Cally Hotel is a very good spot, 8 miles north of Blairgowrie on the A92 Braemar road which is an absolute must do road leading to Royal Deeside. Pitlochry is 22 miles away over Moulin Moor and from there, you're into easy access to the likes of Glen Lyon and the A9 road to the north or over to the N/W.

It's a regular spot that a group of us use for meets and Xmas Do's.

I'd imagine they'd happily do you a deal for a group over a few nights for DBB. £60 is what they're charging a group of us for Xmas Dinner/BnB so shoudl be in your price range.

hi the Falls of Lora hotel at Connel near Oban is a good hotel imho
The West End hotel in fort William is also biker friendly
The Donnolie hotel in Broadford Sky is reasonably priced
The Clansman hotel about the middle of the loch ness road is also very good
if you want posh but friendly try for a deal at Tingle Creek hotel near Kyle of Lochalsh
The Kyle hotel in kyle of lochalsh is one of my favorites

which jist goes to show hoo much entertainment a few bit bikers hiv wi a wee meet in a heilan toon in the mid o whit we get fur a summer here,s to a mid summers meet in 2011

I like The Clachaig near Glencoe, stayed there several times, never been disappointed.

I've stayed at the MacDonald Hotel at Kinlochleven and it was pretty good.

An added benefit is the loop of road is one of the best bits of bike road in Scotland. You are aslo close to the junction to head north for the Corran Ferry which gets you onto the Ardnamurchan peninsula (most westerly point on mainland UK) with easy access to the Isle of Mull or further north on the mainland Fort Bill or east for the coast road to Oban and down to the Isles of Islay and Jura.

I don't know what their current price is.

Cheers Lads. Mac Donalds unfortuneately does not have enough twin rooms and we are not that close to share doubles but the Clachaig looks good
