My header pipes on my exhaust are a dirty brown colour and a bit rusty. Can I use a black exhaust wrap on them or will the extra heat be bad for the engine?
Any other suggestions other Han take them off and lots of polishing?
Cheers, Rob.

did you bother to do a search? no i thought so,plenty of threads on that subject i think mark hooton posted the last one on a product he recommended.

I did actually, found some interesting ones about polishing them and one about keihan exhaust headers instead but obviously missed the ones you are talking about. I'll go look again.

That'll be the one entitled "this is brill stuff"

Thanks for the name Mark Hooton, wouldn't have found the post without it. Not really what I wanted, but a good solution nonetheless.

You are unlikely to find anyone willing to re plate an exhaust, as there is a risk of contaminating their solution tanks.

The people in Coventry specialise in rechroming bike parts including classic 2 stroke exhausts. I've already asked about having my Suzuki 750 Kettle (Allspeed Spannies and originals) - no problem they said.

I didnt ask about chroming onto stainless but its got to be worth a phone call.

This discussion (found via google) suggests it's possible and discusses the issues.

Here's the discussion link - http://www.finishing.com/377/58.shtml Opinions are divided on the value of plating stainless.

I think I will give Camcoat a try. They are not far from me so I went in yesterday. They said that the headers on the GSA get very hot so the black option would be the one to go for.

The only thing I have to do is remove them; is it something I can do myself or do I need a lift in order to do such a job? (I suppose the end can comes out first, undo the lamda sensors and then the rest?).

I have the Keihan headers by the way.
