hi guys,i`m new here,have some question to make though...;planning to repair/change the output shaft oil seal(adv07).Got it all figured it out,exept this;how deep do i have to push the new seal in its seat..?if anyone knows,i`m all ears..!( but in mm please,use metric system..!)Thanx in advance for your time,stukas!-hey,when is isle of man races taking place:..?:aidanGreetings fromm Greece!

i would have thought you push the new seal in the same amount the old seal,
if you cant work that out are you able to do the rest of the job?

The bible?

There is a fairly comprehensive description of the whole operation in the Haynes manual. The work is described as fairly difficult - suitable for a competent mechanic. ( Nippy Norman supplied my manual, £15 post free to France)

i already have the Haynes manual,which describes the whole `operation`at chapter 2.63,where it says that the special tool is shaped to to ensure that the seal is pressed fully home inside its housing,clear of the splines of the shaft.My question is;is it shaped in such way that will not permit you to push it(the seal),any deeper than you should,or you have to know before how far you can push in..?:nenauI think i`ll see it on spot..!Thanks anyway..!

Sorry

Sorry that I could not help you. My Haynes manual is more for bedtime reading than practical use; I have about 5 BMW agents within an hour"s ride, the nearest just 5 minutes away so I don't do much on the bike myself;
