Been considering a new 1200 WC for a while now, took the day off to go and talk turkey with the local dealer........ came out with an order placed for a 90 Anniversary 1200 GSA Hex.

Not sure how it happened, but roll on 01 September!

Nice one Smuzzy

Went through all that myself and got a triple black with all the free toys. Don't regret it for a minute and less time to wait for your new bike ! Start crossing off the days......:thumb2

Yep, the free toys were the clincher, every one of them bar the sat nav would have been bought for the new bike, gave me a very good deal on my 56 plate vanilla GS12.

Anyone want a Garmin 660 :thumb

Sounds great and that happened to me back in 06. I went into my dealer to get a mirror for my 1150 and came out with a brand new 1200ADV:thumby:

Yep it kinda happens that way.......back in 2011 took my F800 GS in for a service one day, thought I would wait for it to be done, have a coffee and a muffin, bit of free dealer wi-fi, dealer said "as you are at a loose end why not take that 1200 GSA out see what you think"......

It became mine the same day, went back and collected it the following day......

Good luck with it, I love mine, absolutely a keeper :thumb

I had a brand new 07 Adventure and loved it. Financial circumstances at the time meant it had to go. Was bikeless for a couple of years then last year picked up a very very nice 56 plate base model GS witgh only 11K miles. Its done me proud, owed me very little, but with improved circumstances fancied something newer. was uncertian about the WC but thought I'd decided until I saw the deal on the 90 Anniversary. I'm not a speed freak anymore and prefer the poise and presence of the big Adventure so it seemed to make sense.

Must admit the grumbles about the new WC also swayed me. I recon the latest incarnation of the Hex should be very well sorted now.

Keep an eye on the for sale section for a few farkles from my old GS inc almost new Wilburs, a Garmin Zumo 660 and all the kit and a BMW badged Akra with Keihan headers. Oh and some Vario inner bagas and strap on top bags. Just need to get them removed and photo'd

Gonna be a long 3 weeks

.

Oh dear, it is contagious...
After loitering with no intent at the local dealer, I now pick up a new 90th Anniversary GSA on Sept 1

Wonder how many are left. Apparently production has now ceased so I guess when they are gone, they are gone. It wasn't a problem cos its what I wanted, but they told me that the only ones left hadve Premuim and Dynamic packs.

I've decided to stick with my Hex for now - its a great bike ...I don't doubt the Commode (or whatever that WC on wheels is called) is too...but if it ain't broke... :rob

Bollix, my current insurers, Chaucer via Motorcycle Direct won't quote me because of the value of the bike.

Insurance search begins :-(

Good luck usually a £50 admin fee from those robbers(motorcycle direct), even for a cancellation.

Whats the going rate on gsa with dynamic/premium now with a good discount? in sept 2011 i bought a dark grey gsa for 13650 with free panniers. Similar ballpark?

Oh Great, look forward to that! I suppose in hindsight, my £91 a year premium on my 06 GS was too good to be true, reap what you sow and all that!

Had a quote from MCE which is not too frightening at a shade over £200 so it will work out.

the 90 anniversary with Premium, Dynamic is about £14.5K. I added top box, rack and backrest, but the offer at the moment is free panniers, Inner bags, sat nav and fittings, tinted screen and tank bag all worth a supposed £1,895 so the bike stood me at damn near £15K. A lot of money, but I started looking at nearly new and by the time I'd added the panniers etc, there was not much in it. I also got what i consider a VERY good trade in against my old 2006 GS, like over £1,500 above book trade.

I'm happy which is all that counts I guess

10 percent discount then, plus the goodies, sounds a great deal.

Second the suggestion try confused.com, comparethemeerkat etc for quotes.

Don't use a comparison site because:

a) Not everyone advertises there (Direct Line for example)

b) Its more expensive (cos the comparison site wants there cut too...they ain't doin it for love)

(that's true for all products not just insurance)

Do BMW do subsidised insurance for new bikes?

Bennetts and Carole Nash seem to be consistently good value, although Equity Group did me a very competitive deal one year (and tried to screw me the next...as they all do)

When I took my 2005 GS in for a service, the salesman was really pushing for me to buy a new bike. Even after I pointed out that I'd only just gone self employed and was skint, he still kept going on about what great HP/loan deals they did.

I had to agree with him that it WAS a great deal. But I couldn't afford it.

He still kept banging on about it.

I can see how easily people get sucked in to buying a new bike.

Incidentally, when you take your bike for a service and end up buying a new bike the same day (trading in your old bike), do you still have to pay for your service??

I certainly didn't, it was discounted off the (very agreeable) final price that was negotiated. :thumb2
