I was drafting a reply on UKGSer just now - not been surfing anything else tonight or recently - regularly run SpyBot etc etc. Suddenly, my 'MusicMatch' (iPod music software) booted up, and a 'track' entitled "d_y_like_that - May 11, 2004 02.53.10.wav" appeared in the 'ready to play' window.

I've not played it - but I'd like to know how it got there - certainly not by Email. I'm connected to a cable hi-speed internet connection at present.

Any advice? Should I delete it, play it, forget it??

Mike:(

General rule, if you havent installed it yourself, or are unsure of the source, delete it.

my MMJB did the same thing last night

the only thing i could think of had it anything to do with the latest upgrade of musicmatch?

my software was upgraded to 8.20.0130 last night about 5 mins before i got that audio track.

i'm running the plus version

send MM an e-mail and see what they say

Just surfing the forums and I get the same thing, except my PC is set up to ask me before opening files, so I cancelled it. I don't have MMJB or iPOD software installed, so this is obviously some new sort of spam or virus.

DELETE IT!!!!!

I think it's something to do with steptoes post about Fred Dibnah

Lol

Thanks all - the file was saved in a 'internet downloads' directory I've never used, so I deleted it. Hadn't updated MM or anything - it came straight out of the blue.
I ran SpyBot & AdAware just afterwards and deleted about half a dozen bots in the system - no ill effects, so I guess that's it...

Cheers

Hmm, I've just been prompted to open "d_y_like_that.wav" when viewing that thread

It's only a steam rally!

No spam, no virus, no mpegs; 'twas just a wee wav slipped in by boundless to brighten your day.

It's Dibnah's voice over from their website at the Elvaston Steam Rally (3rd-4th July 2004). But it seemed appropriate enough for Steptoe's thread on the subject of Bolton's chirpiest...but Mike O didn't /doesn't like it....so it'll have to go.

Sorry, but anything steamy boundless is a complete anorak for.

Here's a poem instead:-

"Soon shall thy arm, unconquered steam, afar

Drag the slow barge or urge the rapid car.

Or on wide-waving wings expanded

Bear the flying chariot through the fields of air"

- - - Erasmus Darwin, 1791

Boundless,

don't mind clicking on something to download it - but I don't think it's a good idea to hide something like that in a post - however well intentioned...
