Hiya guys,I,m 100.% certain I,ve(well not exactly me,i,ve had a little help)tracked my strange noise down to the thrust bearing.I,ve got the bearing out but what exactly am I looking for?I take it the middle bit is supposed to just turn smoothly and should be a fairly good fit in the outer race?merry xmas

What Thrust Bearing?

Which bearing?, what noise?, if you've pinned down the noise to this bearing why do you need to check it?
Much more information needed before anyone on here can help!!!

1100 or 1150 ?

Different bearings and different symptoms.. Plus a brief description of the problem would help. i.e. does it make a noise with the clutch on or out, a constant noise, a squeak as the bearing get loaded ..... ????

Sorry guys should have been more descriptive.the bikes a 1100(99).the noise is constant whilst riding with clutch out.I,ve removed the rear wheel and ran the engine briefly in neutral and the noise seems to go.knock it into gear the noise comes back has you let the clutch out,the noise is fairly high pitched whilst on the go.the noise is still there whilst slowing down and goes away has I stop.hope this helps.cheers

Sounds like input shaft bearing in gearbox , know problem on 1100. What mileage on bike

99 bike I think have m97 gearbox and lip on input shaft gear was made bigger , when I open my box 97' rt there was damage on inner racer , this just guess if bear on the way out would make noise in any gear, but trust bearing will make noise only when you hold clutch in .
