Sadly, I have the dreaded Orange internet email which I interited from Wanadoo when they got bought out. Can't leave Orange until next June...but I'd like my orange email to fully open up in outlook express ( and also the outlook express address book to work etc )

Anybody done this?

In Outlook Express, open up accounts and complete with your Orange settings, it is really easy provided you know your orange settings including password. If you don't knoe what Orange settings are, then go onto their web site and ask!

As stated you only need the POP & SMTP names plus your Orange mail logonid & password... do think about using Thunderbird from Mozilla rather than the bag of poo that is Outlook... or almost any other mail client.

Use almost anything but outlook express !!!!

If you must use Microsoft use proper outlook you can normally get copies for nothing, but the way outlook and outlook express save their message folders etc is different and express is a real pain in the neck.

But there are better out there, I use Eudora its not supported any more but I love it to bits, thunderbird is good, but have a look here as a good place to start:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_e-mail_clients it lists most of the e mail clients out there and if they are paid for or free.

You can also use gmail even with your Orange email address.......I've tried OE, Outlook, Thunderbird, and others.......I prefer gmail.

Just add the orange email as a "label" in gmail and away you go...

If you're using an older version of Express, In Tools-Options-General there may be something like "Make Outlook Express my default Simple MAPI client" which could be worth ticking (after making Express the default mail client) but I would bin it and use Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/thunderbird/). That's just what I have used for ages...didn't realise you could use gmail as above- that would also be a good option.

I am constantly working with emails in OE. Couple days ago I opened my tool and unpleasantly amazed, because of whole my emails were crashed and I didn't know how. As luck would have it I found - outlook express corrupt on the I-net. This application resolved my proposition for a little and what is more I didn't spend my money...

Kenny, download and install Windows live mail - http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail when you set it up just enter your orange email address/Password and the name you wish to be displayed and that should do it, it will import your address book etc.
