How do I get at the oil cooler?

The oil return pipe has snapped on my 1150 (again). I have a nice shiny new one from motorworks to replace it but Haynes gaily skips over how you get to the clamp on the oil cooler so that I can release it and pull the old one off. It looks like I need to take the nose off or something-is that right? Hints and advice very welcome!

I've not done an 1150,but just keep taking things off that look like they're stopping you getting at it,that's what I done with my 1100 and it keeps you amused for ages

You may want to look at why.

To remove the oil cooler, do as Vern suggests but dont make a hash of putting it all back together.........unless you want it end up looking like his bike

Good question! Anybody else had this? A hot mild steel pipe exposed to salt spray and cack generally is always going to have a hard life I guess. I've put a black one on this time, in the hope that the paint is thicker, and wrapped it in self amalgamating tape so we shall see. Fortunately you can get at the rad by taking the nose off-and luckily I steptoed the bolts with plenty of copperslip so not too bad a job.
