I've just invested in a nice new 24" Samsung computer screen. Loving the big picture, but what I need to do now is work out how I can improve picture quality when watching things like iplayer.

Am I right in thinking this is just down to the graphics card in the PC and that if I upgrade I can achieve my wishes?

If I watch the small screen in iplayer the pic looks clear and crisp. If I enlarge to full screen I loose the definition.

Probably a basic question, but any guidance would be appreciated.

the problem is that iplayer is at a fairly low resolution. when you replay it on a big screen, you are in effect, blowing it up considerably.

i don't think it can be done, you need higher quality source material.

TV downloaded via bittorrent usually runs at about 350MB per hours viewing. i've just been watching some on a 32" TV screen and it's best described as "better than VHS", so it's ok by me.

At last we have bandwidth to deal with these things, there is a new channel on it's way which will deliver 1920x1200 Full HD but at the moment they don't have the content to fill programming slots. Also they can't buy the programs in cos they don't have any money, so I'm getting involved with'em:augie

business decision of the year for me.... :blast

wife's just gone to sharpen the carving knife

iPlayer is offering a 'higher definition' feed on some of its programs or you can improve things by downloading it to your PC for playing later.
