Looking for a way out
My Pc is running slower and slower.
I've defragged and tried to clear out rubbish that runs at start-up, but I think its time to reinstall XP.
Alas the PC didn't come with install disc, so I logg onto Dell's website (yes its a DELL)
It doesn't recognise my 'Service tag' nor is my Pc listed (de051). I can't even send them an email because I need a valid service tag for that :spitfire

How do I get the right stuff to install

Any help appreciated.
Jimbo

Update: looks like its a 1100 model. So the Dell website has all the specific drivers I'll need, but where do I get Windows XP from?

It may be easier to just buy an external hard drive and shift large files over to it.

Jimbo Dell computers generally come with a 'Recovery Disc' and it's just a matter of inserting and following the instructions, did you not have one.

Apologies mate just re-read your post regarding installation disc:blast

Do you have a windows registration/installation key, you generally find it on a stick on certificate type thing on the underside or back of the PC.

Well - when I say it didn't come with an install disc - I think that it didn't. I might have just lost it...

Anyway - more re-search suggests that I do have the XP install stuff under my i386 directory - if not I guess I can blag it off somebody at work.
I think I'll save this until I feel up to a long evening in front of the PC..

You might find that you have to create the disks yourself, they do that with some of there laptops anyway.

There is possably a link in the programs menu that gives you the option.
