Hi all,

On my Katmandu special everything is nigh perfect. One niggle is the rear brake lever: the bush has worn.

Anyone have any ideas on how to replace this. It isn't covered in my workshop manual

Never replaced one but if you can get a hacksaw blade in there and saw through the bush , that would give enough play for it to be knocked out. Or use a length of bolt passed through and use this with appropriate spacer at one end as a puller when the nut is tightened. Gentle heat on the lever before the replacement bush is tapped home :-)

As above or you could get a reamer and, well, ream it out.
Don't use a drill. It''ll grab the bush and bad things will happen.

When you drive the new one in, put the lever in boiling water, and the new bush in the freezer.

Should go in easy.

thanks

ok thanks for the replies.

I don't have a reamer so will try the hacksaw blade idea.

New bush on order

Brake lever and a couple of other bits I forgot to get powder coated when I had the frame done .. so sort of glad I did as I didn't realize the bush needed replacing until I reassembled. Would probably have damaged the paint if it was already done .. so almost like a plan :-)
