Hi,
Does anyone have any idea / suggestions as to how I can upload an iTunes playlist onto my Garmin 660 Zumo?
I have read, re-re-read and re-re-read the Garmin handbook and have tried pretty much everything I can think of, including changing file properties to M3U's (as suggested by Garmin), so that they can be supported by my 660 but nothing - diddly squat! Am clean out of ideas..........
Regards, Steve

I just send it to the "device" and that seems to work ok but i use Apple mac so that might work differently

Many thanks for replying, however I have tried to simplest of moves (I.e. just as you describe) and yet when I turn on the Zumo after transfering files, the screen consistently states 0 of 0 songs even though the songs are visible on its hard drive and the SD card when the Zumo is plugged into my PC. Completely stumped!

I'm beginning to wonder, however I can't even get the Zumo to recognise toons when I drag them from an album stored on my PC in the Music folder directly onto it or an SDHC card, i.e. not via iTunes.
If a Zumo doesn't 'do' iTunes, or recognise albums dragged directly onto it, how on earth does anyone get any music onto it at all?

Doesn't iTunes use an Apple imposed, rights managed, proprietary format. The media player on the Zumo is an MP3 player. You probably need to convert your files to that format. I believe that iTunes can be used output MP3 files from your iTunes tracks though. Not absolutely sure as I don't do Apple, I can't abide their "if you wanna buy stuff for your computa you gotta buy it from us" business model.

I remember having to convert songs to a different format, when I loaded some onto my 550 unit. it was onto a sd card in the end, only due to lack of memory on the unit. My songs were on itunes, made a different folder on the pc for music going onto the sat nav.

can not remember what format you use.

Yes, I've avoided Apple products for precisely this sort of reason. I'm pretty sure that the iToons files have to be reconverted to .mp3 files.

Use Doubletwist www.doubletwist.com

Install it and it will scan your library, then you can plug in the zumo, or just the memory card and transfer the playlists. It will convert the tracks if needed.................. And it's FREE ....which is nice :)

PS, Works on Windows or a Mac, and is very simple to use

music purchased from itunes is in AAC format. there is no Digital Rights Management on them, but they do need to be converted to MP3 for the zumo to stand any chance of recognising them. IME whether it does or not is a bit hit and miss, as with all garmin software.

itunes can do the conversion for you, or you could use a 3rd party app.

I import all music coming into iTunes as mp3. Anything bought from iTunes I convert to mp3 then transfer all required songs to a folder on windows pc. Then onto card using a card reader. Plug card it into zumo 660. Jobs a gud un.
Hope this helps.:thumby:
