I lost my last one and there was some stuff on there that I'd rather didn't fall into the wrong hands, so how do I set my new one up so that only I can read what's in there?

Just a thought but have you seen \ tried Dropbox.

You'd need to put your files into Dropbox and then access them from anywhere - no syncing then between usb and PC required.

Not sure how you'd go with work files though (thinking server based)

There were rumours that Dropbox dropped a clanger recently, and security was not very good for some users for a short time. If you need to encrypt data on a USB stick, I would suggest you consider encrypting it on any online backup service.
