How do you change the digital speedo from MPH to KMH with the Pro onboard computer?

I'm worried that the answer to this question might simply be, "You can't"! Still, I have to ask :rolleyes: ...

I've trudged through the manual several times, but nowhere can I find the part where it tells me which buttons to press to convert my (UK spec) bike's display to km/h for riding abroad :confused: . Given that the whole idea of these 'adventure' bikes is that their British owners actually get off 'The Island' once in a while, why is it so difficult to swap the units :( ? Even my old Suzuki V Strom could switch the digital speedo to km/h at the press of a couple of buttons - what's BMW's excuse!?

Also, please don't feel the need to tell me that a (£600 BMW) sat nav can use both types of unit, as I know that already ;) . For times when I'm heading to familiar destinations abroad, I'd be happy not to take the sat nav.

So, can the (2015) GS display mph and km/h on its dash, or not :nenau ?

If it is NOT the new TFT display then there is no menu option to do it.
You need to bring it to a dealer to have them do it via their service computer. And then have them change it back again.

I was afraid that was the case, but I needed to check. Thanks for clearing that up, (other) Bob :thumb!

This is a bit crap though, frankly - an 'adventure' bike that needs a trip to the dealer's on the way to and from a day trip to France :P .

If only Honda made BMWs :mmmm ....
 
If you have a BMW Nav 5 then you can have the current speed displayed in mph or km/hr

Aprilia do the same thing which surprising for a European brand
 
Just been through this.

BMW reset. They can do it, but you may need to pressure them and it is not a 5 minute job.. Same hassle to reverse it though. Very silly.

Very, considering that most modern Japanese bikes have this feature easily available to the rider/user :mad:. Of course, the Japanese do this to make it easier to export the same bikes to the US/UK and to Europe, whereas for the Germans, the idea of designing in an option that only favours UK riders (or people 'defecting' to our silly little island :D) must really stick in their throats.

It really is a 5 min job unless the dealer doesn't know how to use ISTA+. It's very easy to do.

Maybe so, but when I have ridden from England to France (on the Eurotunnel train) on my other (cheaper) bikes in the past, all I have had to do is to hold in two buttons together and the digital speedo changes from MPH to km/h. I am less than impressed that even the 'Pro' version of BMW's digital display doesn't allow the rider to control this simple functionality.

Come on Berlin - play the game :D !

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree that a user should be able to easily change it themselves. My response was simply to rebut the idea that it is a arduous task
 
Their fifty grand cars are the same
My 15 year old Mercedeses ... press a button MPH. Instant change to KPH
