A mate of mine, has given up biking (apparently for good).

However he's donated a number of bits'n'bobs to me, including 2 helmet type bags. Now these bags have the BMW Motorrad markings on them but no model number. The bags are nylon, no padding and are oversized for helmets, but a similar shape, so you could use them for storing helmet, gloves and other odds n sods. They are secured using a cable and combination lock. Now he's given me the current combination, but as they are both different, I'd like to reset them to another number, preferably using the same number for both bags..

I've tried searching the web, but can't find anything that looks like these bags on the motorrad site, so they probably don't make them anymore.

So I just thought I'd ask - Has anyone come across these storage bags, and more importantly would you know how to reset the combination?

Thanks in Advance

The way that I have set the combination on mine is to close the lock, press down on the 'loop' and keep the pressure on whilst you amend the number to what you want, release the 'loop' and bingo ! Reset.

However that's mine - I can't comment whether it will be successful on yours !!!

I've not seen these locks but some combos require that you remove a retaining clip and slide the number wheels off the mechanism. You then change the numbers in respect to the inner ring.

some locks require you to have them in the open position first, then push down & hold the locking bar at a set angle (not into the locking hole) then put in your new number and release.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

Unfortunately none of them have done the trick, and I suspect that the suggestions relate to a padlock style lock.

This lock is like a bicycle cable, with a combination at one end - female type socket, with a male socket at the other end of the cable. There doesn't appear to be any way (retaining clips or otherwise) to reset it.

I guess I'll have to live with the existing numbers - and have to remember them. I can feel some interesting moments in the future:)

Thanks again.

Just guessing here but if it's a fairly random number on the tags you may not be able to reset them, just bought a combination lock you could change and the factory setting was 000. Who knows :nenau
