J o G to Lands End is 837 miles, plus Lands End to Sutton, which is 292 miles, which is… um…. Er….. 1129 miles or 1,817 km.

You have knocked Ting-Tong and Schtum off their pedestal… and are our current leader…. :ChrisKelly

PS I was not being judgemental about Sutton, not least as I have never knowingly been there. There again, I have never been to Bangor or Cork either.

Gosport to Grello in one hit.
1386 miles in 24hrs dead.
Had to divert across the top of Milan and down towards Ancona because they’d decided to do roadworks. Waiting for Mont Blanc tunnel in -6 was “interesting” shall we say, whilst -8 coming through Chamonix plus windchill had me considering bailing despite heated everything on max.

I Recall Tom (Indecisive) never being ready to leave when everyone else was ready to go…but at the end of the day always seemed to arrive at the next hotel first 🤓

Meanwhile … not on a bike.. but did Frejus to Leicester in a Mazda 626 in 18 hours… with 3 kids in The back all coming down with Chicken Pox..that’s got to be worth an extra 500km

Also got to St. Tropez and back in one piece in an MG Metro ..with the same 3 kids in the back…. 😜

Frejus to Leicester, carrying infected livestock, probably in contravention of all sorts of laws…. 1520 km….

St Tropez to Leicester… is, by happy coincidence, about the same distance.

:D :beerjug:

PS Spot on with Tom. A good egg, he was.

snelly’s reign was short lived.

I remember doing Digoin in Saône-et-Loire to Edinburgh, in my Citroën BX TZD Turbo Estate, in 1990 in under 24 hours with ex wife and kids. That included an overnight stop somewhere in the South of England. Lots of cruising at 100 mph on the Autoroute to achieve that.

I also remember hooning around the Circuit de Charade with them hanging on to their seats and setting fire to the front brakes coming down Puy de Dôme.

As ever, nostalgia ain't what it used to be...

This all puts my Leonberg,Germany to hull via the auto technical museum to shame.
A mere 751 miles. 2 up with my little nephew ( 6 foot) on a GS.
My arse was in bits by the time we got home. He just said he enjoyed every minute.

Similarly, my longest was getting off the ferry in Santander in the morning, getting on another in Almeria that night. About 650 miles if I recall, so no prize for me, but an honourable mention for Gimli, my nephew, who was on the back.

I had also forgotten to pack his camping mat. So 2 weeks of sleeping on terra firma.

R1100GS, fully loaded, 2 up, 90mph all day #whoneeds120bhp

Nothing to brag about here, as some of the fellows much further up the leader board than I will ever be, but frankly it was a stupid idea of mine, when I first got hold of my then brand new R1200GSA TB, as I fancied to explore its Globe Trotting capabilities.

I rode from home (Watford, Herts) to Snowdon, via Lake Bala, then down south to Tenby, from there on, back home. According to Google Maps, the distance was 602 miles. All on A & B roads. A bloody long day. Arriving back home after dark.

I had nearly come face to face with a pack of sheep after leaving Tenby, as I came round the corner, where I discovered a farmer and his chums stood in the road who were moving their livestock across the road that I was traveling on. I’ve managed to stop just in time, I also realised just how mentally knackered I was, as it took me some (mental processing) time to realise what had unfolded in front of me.

Will I do it again, No! What’s the point?!

Where is Pepsie?! 🤪
Then again 1100 miles does fall short of the leaders in this “competition”.

Folkestone is a nice place. Leas, Sandgate etc… worth a visit . Town Centre no picture box but it’s not Bradford

Edit- I found a picture from last weekend 👍

1450 km.

The judges have considered this entry. Whilst the elapsed time spent moving was under 24 hours, their considered and final decision is that this journey was not one complete and all but uninterrupted transit. Their decision was predicated on the grounds that the overnight stop broke the journey into two distinct parts, no different to the overnight stop being a week in Margate, building sandcastles.

My longest trips have been
* Annecy to Ripon (via Dover) in about 21/22 hours (including a 1 hour nap at the Shell forecourt on the A1 at Peterborough) in 1997 on a R1100GS it took me 2/3 days to recover

* Santander to Moraira, on Spanish Costa Blanca near Alicante
Left Santander port at 2.30pm and arrived at the villa at about midnight, same day
I went from Burgos in the mountains , to Madrid on the Autostrada to Valencia and then down the coast
2008 on a R1100RT and temps were mid 30’s, I jumped in the villa’s pool on arrival (after taking off my bike gear)

Was that you sleeping on the ground, having manfully handed over your sleeping mat, in recognition thst you’d forgotten his? Or him sleeping on the ground, in recognition that the captain of the two man ship, needs his beauty sleep?

PS Was Spain entirely out of sleeping mats?

:D :beerjug:

PPS When ChasMill, his wife, his son and I went to the Dolomites. On day three, somewhere in Germany, I opened the pannier and asked: “Hey Rory, where are all your clothes, mate?”. His reply, “I left them in the hotel room”. I then said, “But I checked the room and didn’t see them”. He then added, “I put the bag under my bed”.

The lad had a bit of previous for this. On our first trip to Bouillon, ChasMill said to me: “Ask Rory why he is wearing his pyjama bottoms in the bar this evening”. The answer, “I took my jeans off at home, and left them in my bedroom”.

It’s character building for a young lad, to have adults rip the piss. Happy days.

La Pobla de Segur to home after one of @Simon_100 events.
Not in contention of winning though I claim a special award for avoiding all motorways / toll routes. Except for Cheriton for three miles after getting off the train (y)

820 miles. 1150GS.

It is reputed by the locals that the Rolls Royce dealership was the highest selling in the country, something to do with the then Prince of Wales spending his days on the Leas with his inamorata, very fashionable, what.

We don’t even have a Bentley dealership now. Times is hard.

Annecy to Ripon is 1350 km or 838 miles.

Santander to Moraira is 840 km or 520 miles.

Honourable mentions but no cigar, I’m afraid.

Another stout entry and, indeed the avoidance of all motorways is to your credit.
