Anyone beat 828 miles in one day on their 800GS?

I rode from just North of Madrid to Caen in 13 hours on my way back from Morocco.

Bike was awesome, and it only stopped for fuel and the customs man somewhere in southern France. Was down to 45ish to the gallon running at 75-80mph with huge Metal Mule boxes and a Givi topcase on.

In total I managed just under 2000 miles in three days.

Went from sea level to 6500 feet, and 6-36 degrees. Desert to sea. Brilliant sunshine to drizzle.

Thank you BMW for building an amazing bike, and I thank Touratech for the seat!:thumb

I can claim 750 + miles in one day on a Ducati 996 coming back from a European jaunt.

Any pics of the Touratech seat ........how much did you pay ?

Last August I did Wimborne to Avignon in 24 hours, which included a 4 hour stop-over in Stuttgart, so 20 hours in the saddle... 1960 km according to the RAC - I should have kept the fuel tickets and claimed an IBA award!

My arse was a little flat afterwards...

997 miles in 1 day [21 hours] south of france to st helens, rain all the way ,a trip i will never forget!!

1024 miles in 20 hours, Leeds, Wick, Cumbria, leeds - and then back to Bucks after 2 hours kip. And I got my Ironbutt. There will be a charity (Poppy Appeal) Royal British Legion 1000 - RBLR1000 unimaginatively, being run 19/20 June 2010 accreditied by Iron Butt. I will put up a post in March/Feb to get you GS boys and girls out there.

Either my seat's faulty... or my arse is wrong!?! I can't go for more than an hour without a leg/bum stretch, so I really take my hat off to you guys (or should that be helmet?) to anyone who has travelled for longer than double figured hours in day!! Well done one and all!

As far as the seat's concerned, I think I've posted details of what's in mine before, but I have 10mm of an aircell composite, with another 10mm of a funny hexagonal cellular pressure point relief sheet, both tucked inside a fairly dense sheepskin cover. The two materials are used in wheelchair seats so are designed to work... and they do!

My fuel mileage went to sh!te as well, I was cruising in the high 80's low 90's and the OBC went down to 44mpg from 59mpg  and so far has only recovered to 53 with another 1500 miles.

1960 km = 1217 miles...:JB

You've been to Tony Archer, haven't you...

...I've heard about you. :D

Well, I had to search for this Archer bloke... and nope, I'm afraid it's all my own work...

Sorry Greggers, picked up the wrong end of the stick - apologies.

You're braver than I am - wouldn't dare operate on a seat myself.

Ahhh now there's the thing, my seat is standard... those bits I mentioned are all strapped on top Airhawk stylee ... I'll see if I can rouse myself to take a pikcher ..

G

Ah...

...just spent the last 5 mins searching for any posts you'd made about your seat, but couldn't find any with pics - but you did say you thought you'd posted details before... (actually couldn't find any!)

Picture would be good... :thumb2
