The BM site quotes the same hp and rpm for the current 1200 GS and GSA.

But the GS v GSA fuel consumption figures are different ie 4.3 / 4.6 and 5.5 / 6.1 with the GSA with the lower figures:(

I thought that the 1200GSA put out a few more horses than my 2004 GS12. Did they not change the exhaust valve thingyma-jig in later GS's (2005 onwards)

or is that just the voices inside inside my head again ? :nenau :bounce1 :nenau

Sorry - just being a cnut.

I think they've both got exactly the same engine / gearbox but the more recent ones (GS & GSA) have been modified - it might have been at the '05 'makover' point :nenau . I just replaced my '04 a week ago with an '07 (fast Black one :D ) and it's noticebly quicker than the old'n was even at 500 miles.

Of course even the old 'slow' model 1200 will be quicker than the new GSA heavyweight barges :hide ;) :D

that must explain the weave I get at more sedate speeds on my white one!

Off thread I know but...

Bonox, how did the pannier and frames cope with your little step-off? Just curious as to how robust they are (they look ok in the pic). I've asked before but nobody's admitting anything:D

each bag has had two more or less stationary drops - the right one being twice onto lumpy rocks. Survived with no more than a scratch on all four occasions.

Fifth time was moving at about 15mph and ditched it in a hairpin turn when it all went to a fine talcum powder like drift in the middle. Went down on the RHS and the crash bar took maybe half the impact and the bag the rest. Tore the lid off the bag, big dents, yada yada. THe pannier stayed on the frame and while the lid didn't actually fit and the lock tangs were straightened a little, it stayed together happily and I used a bit of gaffa tape to stop the water and dust getting into the bag again. Got home with all contents intact a few days later.

Have not yet tried panel beating the bags, but if you don't crash in them (only fall over trying to get up silly slippery hills and sideways across beaches and so on, imo you'll not have a problem with them.
