How is this for a basic route....

Two questions:
How long are you planning to take?
Why on earth do you want to go to Monaco? I'm not even sure they let motorbikes in.

give this a thought

Your route to Monaco could be improved considerably if you turn right at Le Cannet-des Maures and head for La Garde-Freinet followed by Grimaud followed by St Maxime you will then be on the coast road which will take you to Monaco, but you may find yourself turning back and doing Grimaud to Le Cannet all over again (it is that good). Just my opinion mind! You will also find the coast road entertaining especially after St Raphael.
p.s. When are you doing this "small trip" Cheers Ken.B.

What is it we are meant to be looking at?

The opening chunk is motorway, Calais across to the bridge, then to Monaco for some unspecified reason. Route Napoleon and into the Alps.

Could you get to the bridge a better way? Yes, but if you want to do it in a day, maybe not.

Could you / should you avoid Paris? Yes, but maybe not if you really want to / have to go there.

Monaco, why?

As to rest? It's your holiday.

It looks like a 'You must do, this...and this...and this' type plan.

Just go do it,looks fine if you're pushed for time or you haven't done much biking over there.

Monaco is an ace place, and I visit it every time I'm down that way.Just after the exit from the tunnel, there's a pizza place next to the harbour.Park the bike up,eat and have a wander and see what you will never be able to afford.Cracking way to waste a day.

If you nip into Italy, have a ride up around Torino, brill roads there as well:thumb2

Have fun:beerjug:

day 1 is a long one in the saddle, that's about 600 miles and all motorway, you can do it but it's not fun, even harder if you have a missus on the back, the moaning will begin around orleans.:blast If no woman then go for it.:thumb2
came back through paris Yesterday in the car, wouldn't fancy it on the bike:eek: but a new experience I suppose.good luck!

Aosta to Locano??

Just to let you know, Aosta to Locano isnt scenic in anyway. Locano region is great, but the road from Aosta to get there is just flat. Nowt really to see. I was surprised (did it last November in the car). Im not going back there.:rob

Possibly scoot north into Valais (Switzerland) via Sion and then ride the road in the middle of the alps - then drop south to Locano ? I think there are some good passes. It may not be the fastest - but it looks a damn site better.

When ya going ? Ill be in the region 1st week August - Grande Alps down, Napoleon back up.
