So how long / what mileage can I expect from the original clutch in my 06 1200 gsa. Currently 51000. What are the tell tale signs of worn clutch. Cheers

Steve

Take the Starter motor off and measure the clutch friction plate. New pate approx. 6.5mm, service limit 4.5 mm , Have had them in for change at 3.5mm still driving "just"

Give it a big handful from 3000k in 6th. If the revs climb in accordance with speed with no sudden surge in revs without a corresponding increase in speed then your clutch is fine.

How long it will continue to be fine is anyone's guess...

Its going to depend upon how the bike has been ridden if course, my bike has now got 55.000 miles on it and the clutch feels fine, it has dine a lot of longer trips though which must be easier on the clutch than someone who lives in London sitting in traffic, there's no real way to tell how long it will last, as said above, check the thickness of the plate.

My 1150 has 90,000 and no probs with clutch but never commuted on it and done 20,00 on a lower ratio bevel box. If if starts slipping that's a sign or it dosent free off properly.

I was in London last week. The clutch would get hammered. Normally I avoid traffic like that.
I had the back frame off for powder coat at 50K. I took a look at the clutch which was little more than 1/2 worn.
