how long's ya dipstick?

had my 1993 r100gs at the garage the other day and the chap said the dipstick 'max' mark was too low. i have a distance of 274mm from the bottom of the thread to the 'min' mark and 255mm to the 'max' mark. anybody else agree? i have a standard sump if that changes owt.

IIRC there's either 275 or 285mm dipsticks.
