I nearly got caught out the other day, as the remaining miles on the tank went from 5 down to 1, before flatlining. As I'd only done 205 miles on this tank, I was convinced there was a few miles left, so did another 12 miles before giving in.:comfort On fill up, the bike took 19.6 litres, so that was close.:D

Anyone been able to squeeze any more miles out after the dreaded flatline?:augie

Drill the filler neck, get more in

I got 19.5 litres in with 4 miles showing. Seems to me after fill up it quickly shows range which is always conservative so it must compute on the running average unless you zero the readouts.......anyone know how it calculates range?

Posted this a while back but valid here....

I wanted to know tank capacity and distance from range showing zero and can confirm I covered 7 miles before engine started to cough. Put a measured two litres in tank then rode approx 1 mile to fuel station. Filled tank into neck (I've removed the extension pipe) and got 19.26L so total 21.26L or thereabouts.

As a technical numpty, how do I do this?

I wouldn't do any drilling on my hexagonalbonce... there was a rubber gromit I removed...allowed you to fill the tank faster.

:rob

There is a 70mm extension in the filler neck you can remove as stage one if you don't fancy drilling it. But you still need to take the filler assembly out.

The LC has an all plastic filler, not like the metal one on the older 1200's.

Removing the filler extension and/or drilling a vent hole also allows the tank to fill quicker.
