Went to Bahnstormers today ...

Those K13's are lovely .. shame they changed the indicators

The K13S in White :drool

The K13GT looks very comfortable

How much are K12s/gt now? Saw their prices in the shop and it looked a bit high.

I ll be one of them ! :thumb K13GT SE

After you told me last week .. so I went to have a look to see what the fuss was about :D

I like the HEATED SEAT!!

Electric screen!

Shame about those indicators ..

Not really bothered either way with the indicators, I do like the BM (old style:augie) indicators, but you soon get back into the single button style.

They do have to cram the buttons on when you go for the SE with all the gadgets. Still have a long way to go to get to Ken's Exon Valdes

Now when you go and switch on the heated grips .. you turn off the bike :D

That's weird.

A couple of weeks back, the Light Grey Metallic wasn't a colour choice in UK.

But now it seems to be.

I liked it at the show.

and the optional digi dash :

I'm hopefully going to nip down to CW and try their demo when I get back from France next week.

PS

Edited to add.

The main BMW Motorrad UK shows this as Light Grey Metallic :

whereas CW's site shows this as Light Grey Metallic :

Has anyone actually seen this 'white' K1300S in the flesh in UK ?

There were 2 in Bahnstormer .. one sold and the other a demo bike

Took a K1300S out for a play today.

Even took it to the Spiritual Home of The Tosser !! :

I was VERY impressed with the beast.

I tried a K1200S when they came out and this is so much better.

The FI was just about perfect,in any scenario.

This demo was fitted with all the toys.

I found the suspension pretty firm on all settings and must admit I couldn't feel much difference between Sport,Normal and Comfort.

It was also fitted with the quickshifter (which BMW call Gear Select Assist).

First time I've ever used one and it is bloody addictive-just hold it open and change up as the revs peak-no backing off and amazing progress to be made.

I also took the K1300GT SE for a play for 90 mins or so.

Very nice,but not for me.

The screen was horrid-on highest setting provided major buffeting and was actually best on lowest setting,so no benefit over the S model-for me,anyway, being 6'1".

I would love an S with the panniers etc.To me,it's a sportsbike for larger blokes, compared to most of the Oriental offerings.

The fact that you can fit removable panniers and no messy chain drive is a bonus.

Would be bloody fab for the trip I've just done down to the Route Napoleon etc.

They offered me a good trade in on the GSA and I must admit to being tempted.

Especially in the white like the one mentioned above by lardyboy, and still sitting in the showroom :

Good write up Arsey. Saw them and sat on 'em at the Scottish Motorcycle Show the other week and was well impressed. Dealers just starting to get them in up here. I prefered the 1300S as well, the GT felt slightly cramped to me for some reason.:thumb2

I was sitting on an orange one on Saturday, very nice but decided not to take one out as I have a feeling it would be a very expensive ride:augie:D

Nice write up. I love the K1300S and wont test ride it because i have no self restraint (on a motorbike) and would lose my license....orworse.

Then again.......:D
:thumb

...........anyway, if you want an IL4, might as well be a jap bike.

Exactly, and a lot cheaper........

But i am loving the GSA , and we have deeply bonded!!:thumb

But lurking in the background is a little evil feeling calling me to buy a very fast bike again.........

Or worse.....have both:eek:

For those who are interested, a few shots of the Blue K1300GT I tested.

Depends !!

I have an 08 Blade, which is bloody amazing.

It's actually very civilised and quite comfy.

But,the K1300S is bigger (and alot heavier)and much roomier for tall guys and has stuff like heated grips and ability to carry panniers.

I use bikes for longish holidays of 2000 miles or so in a week and am too old to carry a rucksack weighing a ton.

And when you are up an Alp at -5 degrees even in September, heated grips and ABS etc is virtually a necessity.

I could take the K13 most places I take the GSA,but not so the Blade.

Did the swap on 1st March from a 1200GSA to a K1300S. had a few concerns cos I always said there would be a GS in the garage. Was worried about comfort, tank range and luggage carrying capability. Comfort, I reckon is better on the K, tank range, admitedly while running in, got 54MPG giving a range according to the OBC of 240 miles which is fine. Luggage the only downer, the panniers are small, the tankbag small..... but I will resurrect my Ventura tail pack as the mountings are available for the K13. Still loved the lock up and forget capability of the GSA ally boxes tho'.

Overall, very pleased with the move, love the power and the refinement, BUT would never rule out a return to a GS in future.
