Now I hope this doesn't sound too stupid a question but......

On a GSA there is a mounting point under the beak which could be used for a horn or whatever but under compression the gap will reduce but to roughly how much ?

I'm thinking of mounting a stebel magnum under there which isn't massive at around 3 inches deep.

Cheers :augie

Had a box about 60mm deep mounted under the beak of my 1200 with no problems
TBH, if you manage to compress the front end that much, clobbering the horn is likely to be the least of your worries!

There is hardly NO room under the beak. Defenately not enough for a nautilus.
4cm tall Wunderlich Cyclop light got smashed.
You have 22cm suspension travel and theres 23cm clearance between fender and crash bar under the beak. So everything else than a sticker on the fender is too much. If you dont believe me, tape for example a disposable paper cup on the fender and ride over few cross walk slow down humps.

I´ve installed my nautilus under the tank, there´s a place for oil bottle on the right side where it fits fine. You just have to tear it apart and use a hose between the horn and compressor.

Beak

Do what I did, get a small cardbord box and tape itg under with sello tape,
leave it there for a bit and see what happens.

Think that proves my point. New fork seals anyone?

At least I like my suspension travel to be limited only and ONLY by its natural limit, not something that will burst in pieces on even worse, bust my fender and tire.
THERE IS NO ROOM

Horn position

Hi
Fitted my horn in cutout in left hand fairing (looking from front) think other countries have charcol canister in there, fits a treat( Magnum) left the old horn in place for twin tone.

Same as Dave H - fitted a Magnum into the canister shape inside the front side cover (and dual wired the OEM horn for the two-tone sound too! - great minds, and all that!). The Magnum has a similar radius to the canister gap, so snuggles nicely in there completely away from the suspension (LOVED the photos - I've never come Close to that sort of compression! - even if I had, the horn is clear......). However, it needs to be pointed downwards - if you put it 'straight' in there, water will run into it due to Newton's recent discovery. So - I made a mild steel bracket with a few appropriate curves in it, onto which the Magnum mounts at the right angle, and uses the existing threaded holes in the cover.

Mine is hidden under the tank on the right side cut out and looks like this
