Bike done 1,400 miles now and never liked the idea that BMW do not change the gear box oil at the first service but wait until the bilke is 2 years old.
Therefore decided to change it myself as it is a simple 5 minute job.
Removed the filler plug first and slightly surprised that a trickle of oil did not come out and level not up to lip of filler hole.
Removed drain plug and carefully drained the oil using a cut up coke bottle as a funnel and so did not splill a drop.
Total contents of gear box 0.6 litres
06 BMW service DVD says it should hold 0.9 litres - refilled with Castrol SAF-XO as recommended on the Castrol Web site and got 0.8 liters in it, level with filler hole.
Gearbox completly oil tight so it would appear that good old BMW have underfilled the gearbox in the factory
Would be currious as to how full other 08 GS/A's gear boxes have been filled - something else to add to the check list.
