Only 1000 miles after putting on a brand spanking new pair of Conti Trail Attacks I picked up a cross-head screw in the rear tyre. I got it fixed with a 'plug' - but I'm not feeling confident about any high speed riding with a repaired tyre....should I be concerned?

plugged

I got a puncture after 60 miles on a new Bridgestone Trailwing, i did another 3500 miles before trading the bike in, i had no problems at all with it.

Don't worry about it. Same situation as yourself, got mine fixed nearly 2k ago and it's been fine. In fact I'd forgotten about it till i'd read your post.;)

punture

hi
i bought a aprilia few years back and found that the last owner plugged the tyre,it was ok until i started giving it full throttle and then the plug started leaking,it was ok for a 1000 miles ,then i got confident with it ,emm , so if you are just going a to b , half throttle ,no problem , i would not worry ,but if you are going to give it stick buy a new one .just imagine how much that tyre has to do on hard throttle .

Don't be concerned. I had a few plugged both on the `busa and the Blackird. Regually did three figures with no problems. Well, at least not with the tyres:augie

Had a tyre plugged on my old VFR. Did many miles after and no problems. Don't worry:comfort

I once reccommended to a newbie mate that his punctured tyre could be safely plugged at a tyre specialist. Less than 500 miles later the plug failed and the tyre blew out. Fortunately he got away with it and neither he nor his CBR6 was hurt. Never again. Puncture = New tyre for me from now on. Even now (3 years on) whenever his missus looks at me I squirm.:(

If it's a quality repair, then no problem.

I had a plugged tyre on my Bandit 600. I drag raced it, and did two visits to the Isle Of Man. It was ridden HARD.

The only problem was, it wore out eventually....

Question?? Would you have a plugged tyre on your car??? Car tyres will do many more 1000s of miles.

both mine and the other halfs bikes have been plugged before, even went and did 35 laps of the nurburgring in a weekend on one of em with no problems, don't worry about it

A mate of mine used to work at a popular tyre repair place, he put a plug in a back tyre on a ZX10r for me, likes been said a quality repair will cause no problems, the ZX10r went up to 300kph down the autobahn and just under 160bhp on a dyno run :augie

Bought my 07 GSA from a BMW Dealer with 1700 miles on the clock and they sold it to me with a plugged tyre on the back! Been down to Morocco and back fully loaded no probs (apart from the plug is now higher than the surrounding tread!)
