I bought a tank cover for my new 2007 GSA at the show on Thursday. Just come round to fitting it and I'd swear it was for another bike:spitfire

Mine is shown labelled as a 2006 model, but this should fit my 2007. When I remove the side panels and offer the cover up I notice the following:

1. Two holes to screw through. The rear hole looks to be for the side panel screw and I'm guessing that the front screw fixes to the rear winglet screw?? I'd have to stretch the thing a bit to get it to fix and don't want to stress the winglet screw.

2. The overall fit around the filler is v.poor. I've put Baglux on my last 4 bikes so I know the initial fit is poor, but never as bad as this. Is this usual for the GSA baglux?

3. Where the bloody hell are you meant to connect to two side straps? The only obvious place is the metallic tank cover but a) Its too close to get any purchase and b) the clamps don't fit. There's nothing else to really connect to.

Any advice and help from people who've already tackled this problem on their 12GSA would be most welcome.

Cheers:thumb

They recommend that you heat the tank cover in a hotpress before putting on the bike. This theoretically allows you to stretch it to fit the tank...

generally found that they never fit perfectly and move slightly over time, but i can live with it...

By the way my bike is an 1150 so have no experience with the 1200.

Hi Monkey, yes the inital fit is not great but does get better.

The front two holes are for the the winglet holes.
The rear two for the black over panel screws.

To fit mount at headstock (loosely) do the two sets of screws. Then I left it to settle, I was lucky do this is in a warm garage during the summer. THen fitted to the rear two straps which I believe are attached to the ally panel but without going and looking I can swaer to that. Oh and that other plastic black panel has to come off to below the ally panel but its only a push fit.

Again fitted loosely and left it like that for a week or so and then slowly tighten it all up great fit now :thumb although I would say that the front of the filler took a very long time to settle. But as SWMBO just commented do it in the summer.

Here's a some what poor picture side on, but it you can zoom in it gives you an idea.

it's a sign - don't do it!

ruining a great looking bike with a leather cover on the tank is just beyond me :blast

Cheers for the info Shaun, looks as though I should probably just persevere and let it settle in for a bit.

Did you add the 'R1200' decal to the cover by the way??

Had another bash at it and its now fitted :thumb

A bit 'baggy' round the filler, but this should settle down.

Cheers :D

What colour did you get GSmonkey? Any pics, ive had bagsters on all my bikes, good protection and i like the looks of em :thumb

Went for white/black in the end. Thought the all-black was a bit too much, although possibly more practical than the white.

Yes Monkey I added the decals, got them from two wheel humvee, they seem to be lasting the distance, plus alot cheaper than the original BWM ones £46 .

Did it really to make sure it was more noticeable as an ADV being a non standard colour.

Good to here you got it fitted in the end, but it is a lot easier in the summer but with soem warmth it should settle nicely :thumb
