How to fix fuel gauge -?

I have just joined the 'GS Family' after many years of riding sports bike & the GS is by far the best bike I have ever ridden.
Bought a 09 plate with 15K on the clock & 1 week after the fuel sensor failed and the bike was literally 2 months outside warranty
Luckily the dealer I bought from included an extra 3 month warranty

When the bike was repaired at BMW N.Oxford the mechanics were very honest and admitted this was a very regular occurance.

Surely BMW need to sort this failing equipment out.

Surely BMW need to sort this failing equipment out.

There's a world recession on at the moment, I can't see BMW or any other manufacturer for that matter bending over backwards to fix every little niggle that owners experience. It doesn't stop the bike from running, so isn't important enough to warrant recall action.

At £90 for the part, I shall change my own fuel strip if it should fail, my bikes now well outside warranty and I elected not to renew it at over £300 for a years cover.
