How to link the Pyrenees to the Alps?

Cooperman,

Narbonne is a very nice place to visit especially on market day I`m sure someone posted a bike friendly hotel nearby. Old Adge is also a worn tired but very active Town especially at night. Had many a family meal on the pontoons by the river. Excellent place. Both Narbonne and Adge and Cap d` Adge have good beaches.
Julie and I are doing a run through France to Castellane, then RGAlpes from Menton , back to Lac Annecy a slow ride back to Calais.

Your plan looks Grand.:thumb2

Enjoy.

Will we be following each other again

We are planning for early July - TDF time :thumb2

Hi Cooperman

A few of us did a trip last year from Jaca along the N260 :drool to Andorra then the back roads to Narbone  :thumb:green gri We spread it over two days cause we could :thumb cracking route. If your interested I could plot it on Mapsource and send it over. Great roads, great scenery and great cafes along the way. :bow

The road from coll du nargo to olot (southern side pyranees - spain) is pretty fun with many offroad or small roads to explore the rougher terrain if you so wish.

EDIT... just had a look at sa nav files and indeed the road I'm referring to is the n260! It looks more straight on a map than it really is!

what about the gorge du tarn? can't be far off that route.

edit: and what tim said. the spanish side of the pyrenees is awesome.

I rode from Carcasonne to Millau, which was a pretty good ride, and was then heading to Le Puy via the Tarn Gorge when rain and fog stopped play due to near zero visibility :(

Le Puy to Briancon via the Vercours and Col du Bonnette etc. was an awesome days riding though :thumb2

Oh, and +1 on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees - the N260 is sublime :thumb2

A couple of places to put on your route

Gorges de St-George - N42.78542 E2.22270 22270 – Quite interesting this place coss I managed to bounce a Bluetooth signal around the rock face to a mate on the other side (Sena SMH10) :D

Miss out Gorges de Galamus and I’ll be very cross!

Night 5 I would stay for 2 nights in that area and not go to far east ( plenty of good passes around Andermatt, then head up through Black Forrest over to the Vosages then just fire it up to the ferry.
Enjoy, Dave.

Thanks for all the comments :thumb

The Gorges of Galamus and St George look good.

We have to call into Bad Oberdorf which takes us out of our way - otherwise I agree the route up through the Vosges and Black Forest would be the way back.

Im doing summat similar

but starting at Barcelona and tother way round in August.
For my pennorth get to Santander a couple of days early and stop at San Vincenta de la Barquera on the coast, lovely spot.
