Apologies if this has been asked already. How do I open my speedometer housing? It has developed a mist inside the clock and it gives a horrible look. I would like to open, clean it and seal it (though I suspect that water has entered through the lamps holes).
Thanks in advance

Condensation, it's just damp within the housing, no need to strip it down, just remove the bulbs, put a hair drier on it for a couple of minutes and it should get rid of the moisture / repeat as necessary.

or stick it in the airing cupboard for a week.
or in a bag with (dried obviously) rice.
or in a bag with silica gel pouches.

Good Luck :thumb2

Hi guys

Thanks for your help :).

Unfortunately on a closer inspection, I realised it is oil! And it is also dripping on the face of the clock. I suspect somebody has oiled the cable... Oh dear.

So back to square zero: does anybody know how to open the housing?

Thanks :)

isopropain alcohol..( spelling??)
I might work, give it a squirt through the lamp holders...
Nah forget it, it might do more damage than good..

I think you'll find them sealed for life. Never had a proper go at getting into one, but they look pretty well sealed.

I read somewhere that one could carefully pry out the bezel by gently open it with a screwdriver. I decided not to attempt it as the bezel wouldn't turn. So yes I tend to agree with you.
I'll leave it then but quite annoyed with the oil mist :nenau

Thanks everybody for your suggestions :thumb2

You could live with it! Or else be prepared if it goes wrong.
