How to spend 10hrs on a GS from Dorset

No pics of the bike. Did you go in the car? :D
🤣 I should've taken more photos but I was there for the riding and lived experience more than the record.

I ended up enjoying it so much I will definitely go back in the car with the family though summer if those roads would be a little dicey in a car.

Looks 😎 Just a suggestion but the A361 from Tiverton to South Molton is a nice little detour 👍🏾

Entering Dartmoor near Ashburton, Dartmeet, Two Bridges, Postbridge, Widecombe in the Moor, Moreton Hampstead, Chagford, Dulverton, Exford, Lynton, Simonsbath, Bishops Lydeard, and back.

I much preferred the open expanse and wilderness of Dartmoor though the coastal scenery in the north was beautiful but much more like home on the Jurassic coast, so it was nice to have the difference of Dartmoor.

👍 not a bad route on any day, Widecombe is always a good spot to stop and stretch your legs and grab a bit of pub grub as long as you avoid the tourist season or bank holidays.
If you do go for a couple of days don’t be afraid to just follow your nose down obscure lanes as you’ll normally get rewarded with a bit more seclusion along with more changes of elevation compared to just riding over the top. If you’re lucky they’ll also give you a few easy fords to try as a bonus.

Enjoy the new bike😎

I’ve stayed at a small pub in Milton Combe called the ‘ Who’d have Thought It’
Great place with good food and a couple of comfy rooms

One of my favourite roads is Gillingham to Bruton then to Frome. Blandford to Wimborne via Zig Zah hill is another. For something longer I’d be inclined to head to Porlock and then along the coast to Lynton & Lynmouth. Come back over Exmoor.

I used to go there when I was a student at Plymouth Poly mid 80’s. We used to drive out there on a Sunday night. Nightmare to find without Navigation and down in a deep valley so just beware. Lovely old place next to a small river. Took a small group there a few years ago to stay and use as a base to explore a bit of Devon and Cornwall at the time

Just checked out The Black Venus Inn website :) That's on my list of places to visit too. Thanks for putting that up on here. (y)
