My Zumo was shutting down while following some custom routes. First make sure you are not using multiple maps on your Basecamp/Map Source. The Zumo doesn't like it when you use City Navigator 2011.20 on the computer but only have 2011.10 or vice versa on your Zumo. Delete all your old maps. Second the bloke said delete all the voices you do not need. This frees up about 120mb if you just keep the English voices. Apparently this gives the Garmin more space to think and mine is now amazingly quick on recalculating routes etc and not crashing!
To delete voices mount your zumo and goto Garmin/voices and delete. Don't think I will need Afrikanz any time soon.
