Hi
I will need to have a plug conected to the side socket while driving.

Its safe to this with heay rain ???

It can make short circuit ????

How about the socket closed when passing trought water courses (off road) ??

thanks

You have a good point with the 12volt socket,
The only problem I have has is with corrosion because it does get submerged in water & rain .some electrical moisture displacement spray is good to use every now and then.
As for shorting out there would be a little chance of this happening due to the low voltage and the poor conductivity of water.
cheers.

I have used my BMW electric vest in absolutely pouring rain for at least 2-3 hours non-stop. It was plugged in using the female plug attached to the plastic starter motor cover.

I have also used these plugs in snow and extremely cool conditions over a period of about 28 years without problems. I think you should be very safe using the plug in wet weather.

My socket has been underwater quite a few times crossing creeks and small rivers, so far no problems and it's a 98 1100GS so nearly 5 years old.

I've recently removed the std B*W power socket and replaced it with one of these.

it fitted easily - had to open the plastic hole out slightly, though.

Benefits are- i'got loads of them, they twist and lock, take large current and dont corrode, easily replaceable, light weight, cheap, next day delivery and available everywhere.

We use them for all our power sockets/connectors on our equipment.
