How well do your textile suits fit with and without the liners?

I currently have an old HG PSX suit, cordura and leather with a goretex lining. It's a great suit that has displaced leathers as my regular riding suit. However, it's not particularly warm and, although I have a cheap set of lined waterproofs I'm considering saving for a decent riding suit with a thermal liner I can take out.

One thing that concerns me with things like the tw*t suit and similar versions is that it's important for the armour to stay in place and I wonder how well it would do that if you took out the liner so that it became more baggy.

My girlfriend just bought a set of rev it cayenne pro trousers and they have two sets of liners, thermal and goretex. Once those are out there's more room for the fabric to move and I worry that in the case of an off the armour and fabric will move around and not protect from impact well enough.

Am I worrying unduly and how have other people found this sort of clothing protects when the bad stuff happens?

Thanks,

Justin.

I crashed in my twat suit without the jacket liner in and some of the elbow armour moved and I got bad gravel rash on one elbow, I did have the sleeve vents wide open as well though.

I had the liner in the trousers and big off road boots on and my legs were totally unscathed :thumb2

I now have Rukka gear which fits quite well with/without the liners

It's worth looking for jackets which have compression straps in the body and the sleeves. I've just bought a Lindstrand jacket and it has 3 position adjustments on both. Hopefully that means that with all the linings out (there are two) I can compress the various bits to keep the armour in the right place. Forgive me if I don't test it to check though
