Took delivery of TE version last Thursday. done about 170 miles in 3 rides. Have noticed at times some strange sounds, difficult to describe exactly, but howling or whining comes closest. It doesn't seem to be engine speed related as I coasted in neutral a couple of times and the sound was still there. Has anyone had similar experience? got any thoughts. It doesn't do it all the time. I wonder if it is air flow related in certain atmospheric conditions.
Any advice would be appreciated as it has marred my experience of what otherwise feels like a fine machine.:tears

I've just done a 3k trip on mine and yeah I get a whining noise sometimes but than it goes ! can feel it thro the bike, but mines back at the dealers on Saturday as the rear pads are down to metal, the clutch drags, the rubber boot on the drive, nearest to the wheel has holed apparently there's a upgrade boot already now and my vario's don't fit .

But its still a cracking bike.

Pretty sure this observation/question has appeared before in this section.

Have a search for moan/moaning. It's not a huge section.

Al :)

Not heard of that one before.:nenau Unless its the fan kicking in, as someone else said.:rob It is summer, after all.

Interesting to note your boot on the drive at the rear wheel is holed. Same happened to my bike. As a temporary fix i have managed to glue a patch from a bicycle repair kit to the boot. It's lasted for the last 5 weeks (approx 1k miles). Just as well as there is no sign of a replacement boot as yet. It appears that although they have boots to fit to new build bikes BMW cannot supply my dealer with a boot for mine. It's not kept me off the road. I am sure that if it had i would have been really pissed off by now.

Just don't get water and mud in there, as that'll be a new final drive:rob

I speak from experience.:blast:D

Same here.....anybody any idea how this happened?

Same hole as mine. I have no idea how it happened to my bike either. Just spoke to BMW customers services ( a F**k**G misnomer if ever I heard one) and they are saying the part SHOULD be with my dealer around the 14 of July.
