HP2 battery - Odyssey Replacement

Yes, HPN web site gives a price of Euro 850 or so..

Says it will withstand more torque, and an extra rubber part, which it didnt mention its function..

Guess this means the OEM driveshaft will give in at certain torques... hmmm, not good!

Finally got around yesterday fitting the odyssey to my hp2. If it was not for the pictures on this thread would not believed it can get in there. One minute I was struggling the next it was in the box :eek Hope I never have to get it out of there as I reckon that would be near impossible without cutting a piece of the battery out :blast

Got mine faced forward with the terminals so all still in reach and managed to use the standard bracket again in the top mounting hole. Had to bend the metal bracket slightly of the thingy on the right hand side to get the seat on but it looks ok. Stuck some gaffa tape on the battery corners and inside of the frame as the clearance there is minimal. Any of you guys have problems with the battery rubbing against the frame?

5 minutes to get the old battery out, at least an hour to get the odyssey in :mmmm Rear shock needs to come out and various of little things that come into the way. If you attempt doing this put some time aside :beerjug:

Odyssey replacment battery

Hi Phil Fitted one to my H P 2 christmas day. had to trim the finns about 5mm each side, then it fits. no problems starting since then.
missed you at the Rydale had to drink the hot myself.

BMW have replaced the original Yausa battery with an EXIDE ETZ-12BS battery. BMW rplaced mine a few wees back wen I was asking the same question as Phil. I was apparently given the first one in the UK and the battery has official BMW logo printed on the casing.

As an insurance against getting stuck on a trail somewhere with a flat battery I now have a PC545 ready to install.

After nearly four years I've had to buy a replacement. I've gone with the Odyssey PC545 again.

The bad weather and work commitments over xmas meant the bike hasn't been run as much as usual and I've now had to jump start it a couple of times. Battery wasn't even turning the engine.

I've tried charging the battery (first time) but the voltage keeps dropping (can't detect a current leak :nenau) so I'm assuming it's f*cked.

Never had any problems until now (always turned the engine easily).

Hope I can get the old one out, from memory it's tight squeeze :D
