Not sure if I did OK or not, but I got one in the UK two weeks ago with 450 miles on the clock, 2006, one owner from BMW dealer in Birmingham. No extra's but pretty much like a new one out of the box.

That is a very good price for that bike with all those extras. The tank alone is well over £1000 more like £1500 at todays exchange rate and the panniers and racks another £4-500...someone will get a great deal.

I am shipping it to the USA and registering it there. This will be my American hack. Thanks for the thread MSB, I owe you a pint. This is HP2 number three for me. No more!:augie

Not me...................I nearly got it privately for about £7600:augie

However reading between the lines from the advert and looking at the reg plate (Bracknell BMW HQ) and the first 1300 miles offroad, before this seller got it and him doing 4000 road miles. Plus the seller said to me that the original tank panels were scuffed a bit etc

I'd hazzard an educated guess:mmmm........... that it started out life as a HP2 bike at the BMW Offroad Skills Centre in 2005/2006:eek:

So i'm glad to lose out on this one, even though it has some great accessories

Ah well, given the pound against the Dollar right now, buying a similar machine in the USA would probably cost around a third on top again. I don't think I did so bad....:thumb2

well done mate you got a bargain in my oppinion. let me know how the shipping to the states goes and send me some pic's in its new home.
where are you in Thailand? i get out there once a year to see friends. thinking of a bike trip this year for a few weeks, hire a bike and set off exploring.

Which state will you be registering it in? I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with this. I'd always understood that importing a bike to the US and registering it there was more hassle than it was worth.

My god you guys talk a lot. :jibber

I'm not sure it was a bike from the school, apparently it belonged to some big-wig at BMW HQ as a pool bike, saying that, if I wanted anyone to be maintaining an off-road bike, it would be the guys at the school, they know a thing or two about off-roading...for sure!!!

...and it was me, or rather my mate, who scuffed the original panel whilst trying his luck in a mushy forest :blast. Is there such a thing as a mint 5000mile enduro?

Muzz, I think you'll be happy with the bike. I've just bought a K1200R (it's my birthday today) and I'm going to try KTM for my off-roading (unless the sales guys get me with the G450X :) ) and hopefully I'll finally get out to Morocco, I can't wait! :JB

Thanks to you all for your interest and I'll catch you later!

I seriously doubt it . Thats like all those ex VW management, ex BMW management, ex Audi management etc etc cars that you get for sale. Its bollix .

Everybody from the shop floor cleaner up thru the production workers, paint shop , office staff, etc and most of their wives&husbands can get a new car on cheap lease use it for 6 - 9 months and then it goes out into the dealer network ( often via the auction houses ) for sale and they get a new one. The theres all the press cars/bikes and dealer demos too. Now I'm not saying thats a bad thing at all but the notion that every single one of these hundreds of cars (or bikes in this case ) was driven carefully and cherished by one of the senior directors just makes me chuckle.:P

Hey Tim

A good deal done:beerjug: Have a great trip down to Morocco, please let mw know about, me and Martin will be taking a trip down there in July.

I'll be shipping the HP out to my other place in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I have to stick the bike in my mates name as he is a USA resident and then he transfers back to me as a none resident alien ( easiest way)...

Muzz
