There are very few things in this world that we actually need, but that doesn't stop us from wanting them.
How many people here actually NEED a huge off-road capable motorcycle? But that hasn't stopped us from buying a GS and the same applies to the HP2 (or indeed virtually any motorcycle over 1000cc).
So if you can't see why someone who doesn't actually NEED an HP2 intends to buy one, then you obviously are missing the point.
