well, busy at work today.. and I was wondering what everyone else is using to lift the HP2 in order to change tyre set.

again the friendly BMW dealer suggested the solution of a BMW workshop centre stand for only GBP 125.00

(paddock stand seems not to be much use as it only lifts the rear wheel)

anyone else opted for a better or cheaper solution?

thanks!!

I have the work shop stand. The HP is hard to get up on the stand with road wheels on, but no problem with the off road wheels. You do have to be carefull fitting the stand as you can scratch the paint on the HP.

Work shop stand

I have the rear wheel stand, and if I have to change the front wheel, I normal use a jack under the engine.
I dident know that I could have a workshop stand, do you
have a part number for that thing...I want one.
Can you post pictures ?
thank you:)

part no.

I was given the following two part numbers from Vines-BMW.

71607699061
71607698075

GBP 125.81

it looks like a standard R 1200 GS centre stand although a bit bigger I suspect.

There is a photo of it on the off road manual..

I use the BMW paddock stand on the rear; this lifts the bike high enough to get a standard MX stand under the bash plate. One word of warning though, if you have the SM wheel on the front put a stack of bricks (2 wide by 2 high)under the wheel before you let the bike off the MX stand otherwise the bike will drop onto the bash plate and the front wheel will be floating in the air....
Of course the same applies if your trying to take the SM wheels off i.e. put the front wheel on the bricks and then you can get teh MX stand under the bike.

lay the bike on it's side on the lawn

I do have a MX stand but it's too tall and needs to be cut down to fit £20 from ebay, but was busy angle grinding the engines into shape and welding new bits (brackets) for my Lo-IQ hybrid wunderlich bars

Probably built in China and will be a recalled within 6 months. I like the BMW work shop stand ias t is easy to transport which I do when I ride to events down county and have the stand and the other set of wheels in the wife's car.
