HP2 panned by MCN???

I agree, except, I'd love and Audi Q, or Escort Cos, rally car. They're so f...ing cool. and I don't care about practicalities. If I could I'd buy the HP2. Hell of a lot more practical motorcycle, if you can use that word, than a ZX10R, RC51, CBR600RR, all of which I've owned and loved.

......They reckon that BMW had turned a first class road / touring bike (1200GS) into a worse road bike (small tank, no weather protection, vibes) with limited off road potential in anything other than desert / Dakar type conditions. .....

BUt thats exactly what BMW developed it for. It was never set out to be a road bike or a tourer. I'm also sure it has better of road abilities than either the GS1150 Adventure or the GS1200....I know which one I would rather pick up 20 times in an afternoon.
