whilst reading about the virtues of the new almighty air shock in the HP2 it suddenly dawned on me that the dimensions and swingarm travel etc can't differ all that much... In Sept BIKE magazine Brit Dakar racer and pro offroader Simon Pavey talks about how the air shock is excellent in that it's extremely linear and progressive allowing it to soak up small bumps *and* big hits with equal aplomb offering supreme ride quality especially offroad...
It seems a bit strange having both spring and damping duties being done by air alone, but apparently this allows you to customise ride height, travel, compression, the lot on the fly with nothing but an air pump!... and it's 2kg lighter than the 12GS stock shock!...
so anyone more technically minded than myself know the dimensions of the stock rear shock vs. the HP2's air shock?... I assume the biggest issue would be fitting it in, although there's fair amount of space to work with...
if it works this could be a great suspension upgrade...
