HP2 reliability and issues

I mainly use mine for gentle shopping trips, and riding around the lawn:rolleyes:

On the road,it get's thrashed within an inch of it's life.On the dirt,it's far to much of a handful to thrash 99% of the time, but it does have it every now and again.

It's just coming up for it's 6k service,and it's probably 2/3 road and 1/3 dirt ish.

I have a set of 50mm WP forks kicking about, waiting for the warranty to run out,and then it'll get a proper sorting.

The rear shock is pretty good most of the time, but it's easy to upset it on a bumpy road when getting back on the power, hopping and skipping.I think a WP rear might be needed in the future.

Apart from that,no complaints at all:thumb

Fitting WP's is a nice idea and sets from Katooms and Berg motards are readily available, it also means you can easily nail a Beringer 6 pot up front for serious road work if needed, out of interest do you have the later big axle WP forks and have you compared axle sizes?

I haven't got the forks here to have a poke at.They were put on a KTM to do the Weston beach race, the bike lasted two laps, the bloke took them off to get them stripped and cleaned, and never went back for them,so they were duely liberated:D

HP2 Forks

Hi all,

I'm off to Marocco for April on the GSA and plan on leaving my HP2 with DCR, the 'Berg importer. They are going to look at the ways of fitting WP forks to the HP2, which means Berg (KTM) tripple-clamps etc and the bracketry needed to fit the BM ignition swich gubbins to the clamps. Plan on using Berg brakes and wheel which will save LOADS of weight and prob. go for a standard 'Enduro' type front light/mudguard setup.

Will keep you posted.

ps. the reason i'm pressing on with this idea (been on my mind for a while) is the SECOND set of forks on the HP are on their way out - clunking and I've noticed the coating on the sliders wearing off near the top.

Cheers, Rick.

I have done it allready

hey all.
IO will get back when I have some decent pictures
