Nah, for £45K I'd take muchos better, allround faster and zillion times more practical and better looking scoot:

With this price you can get the most hardcore rallye bike ever existed on the planet Earth. :thumb2

It truely is a fantastic piece of engineering if they have managed DOHC on this:clap

Probably the rest of the boxer models will be switched to DOHC heads if it proves to be reliable per long haul?

According to the racers factory race bike did around 140bhp and rising as they develop it further, so I recon getting rid of the CAT and puting Akra race can for it with some easy intake mods you should easily get more than 135+bhp out of the stock 128bhp engine.

I typically have little interest in sports bikes but this does look awesome :thumb2 From what I have read, the R1200S seemed to get pretty good reviews so perhaps this bike will build on that.

Looking at how the bike is set up and that the R1200S is selling ok at approx 10+K, anything near 11K or 12K would make it quite the bargain and would certainly take away sales from the 1200S. If you were to liken the HP2 brand to the 'M' range of cars - the most expensive regular 3 series coupe is something like 38K... the M3 comes in at 50K... over 30% more. That model consistently sells well...

Most importantly - I thought we were in to bikes not because of rational thought but more emotive desire. There is little logic in bikes - cars can now do 50mpg, they stop you getting cold and wet, and you are far less likely to die or be seriously injured in an accident. I still ride my bike knowing all those things... basically because I like the way it makes me feels. How do you put a cash price on that?? :nenau

Peter Muller stated on 28/9/07 :" we will preparing our entry into SWC in 2009 with great intesity".So there is more work been done on this bike ?

Don't think they'll do it with a twin. Boxer they'll probably only use for Thunder Series, endurance racing etc., where twins still have a place or a separate class.

For WSB they have the "190/190" project going on that is based on K inline-4 engine. The prototype name comes from production model that will be 190kg and has 190bhp. Factory race bike will have much better ratio of course...

Well I would give it house room, it is something different, something that removes you from the masses, and it comes with a good pedigree, as Tsiklonaut says it is not an i4 and it is wrong to compare it to the mundane run of the mill Jap stuff. yes an R1 is going to spank it but that is not a reason to slate it, accept it for what it is, something very different.

Feck it, I may even get one, after all you only live once.

For £14.5 is should bloody well come with an Akra can and a link pipe to remove the cat !!!!

The Megamoto comes with an Akra as standard.

By the time you've fitted an Akra system to the HP2 Sport you will be up at around £16000 !!!!!

Or a new GSXR 750 and a KTM 950 Supermoto.

.

Fair point. Altough the stock may be an Akra already? Ayways, the main "issue" with most of BMWs is the catalythic converter it has, to compile with EU-3 emission and noise norms. BMW apparently is very strict with "greenpeace" style of making things. BMW claims to be the first make to equip the bikes with CATs so it's grown into somthing like a tradition for them to make it extra tough, unlike Ducati, KTM etc sports-oriented makes who just opt for more bhps written on the paper and bolloxes on the CATs etc stuff that restricts the sporty side of things.

The same "prob" is with HP2 Enduro (very expensive too) where's stock exhaust is silent and relatively heavy. Most of hardcore guys replace it with Akra or Remus or something else, save some serious kilos, more power and better sound. Environment suffers tho...

Thankfully the greenpeace in co-op with gov guys haven't aimed bike makes that seriously yet, so we have a freedom to put sporty aftermarket stuff on, ...but you never know, that time maybe comes soon when we have to switch back to CAT and silent exhausts coz otherwise you get fined by police who have special equipment to diagnose your bike.....?

Funnily enough the stock HP2 exhaust is very light - the aftermarket one I've got fitted on mine is actually heavier than the stock item but boy does it increase the horsepower :moped:

The air shock is unbelievably light as well and everyone is surprised how little it weighs when they pick it up.

I now switch off my television at the wall and don't leave it on standby anymore. This offsets my carbon emissions and thus I am carbon neutral

Hmm... Simo Kirssi says they have around 2-3kgs off with Akra headers and pipe and that's the main reason why they use Akra exhaust for the factory race bike :nenau

I'm still a lover of sports bikes, I can't see me buying another, but if I were it wouldn't be that!

The price really does take the piss, I'm sure they must sit around a table, think up a ridiculous figure (as usual) and see just how many of us dozy twats will actually buy it!

I know the jap bikes look more or less the same, but I'd still plump for a new Gixxer 750 or a K6 'thou' The thoughts of hanging off that HP2 Sport and getting ya knee down would scare the shit outta me with those stupid cylinders so close to the ground....no thank-you...:eek

I bet BMW are hoping it does better than the R1200S...........they've had to stop making those, because of poor sales. They've apparently got enough in stock for the whole of 2008 supply.

It does look good and sound good on the track though

I'm off to the Milan show in a month and must admit to wanting a good look at it !

THAT Engine and Transmission in a GS Chassis with 17" Wheels. . . .

MMMM Yes Please.

I tried the MegaMoto and it's brilliant, just too Focussed. My GS with 17s is a better all rounder for what i need.

Looks way better than most sports bikes and nice to see a sports bike without a gutless 4 cylinder motor like most of the jap 4's. May be down on bhp but lots of torque and drive out of corners at low revs is what makes a fast road bike so I reckon it will be ideal for whanging around UK roads. That said I look forward to riding rings round them on my standard GS given that most of the buyers of these things will be middle aged born agains with loads of money and no riding ability....

As for the price - still better value than a Ford mundane

128bhp? wonder how long the final drive will last

the price is just a deterrent. everyone has an R1.

thats the first bmw sports bike i like the look of. it is *lovely*. i think my forthcoming SomethingForTheWeekendSir bike might have to be italian, but that is v tempting indeed...

It is loverly. Trouble is they all "have a go" dont they.Triumph, moto guzzie, bmw.
Your up against the big four so unless the bike your gonna make has 170bhp it aint gonna sell much. An R1 out the box will leave em standing and wondering why they spent all that lolly. Tis a shame because BMW could do a litre bike to be a contender, look at the mighty KS1200,a dream of a bike. Sometimes you think their just playing at it,dont you?
For that sought of money i`ll have an Agusta F4 ta very much, or a nice 1200GSA with 3 Rolls Royce`s for a top box and panniers.

HP2-Sport

That's probably the best looking full-on BMW sports bike I've seen in a long time, just awesome! :thumb

What kind of money might it be does anyone know?

The photographs are top notch quality also, lovely shots.... wow!
