Hi

Still nobody does a quicker action throttle for the 1200gs,Ive been waiting 5years for one and I've been looking at solutions,

I've been checking part numbers and the HP2 enduro and megamoto have different part numbers for the handlebar throttle grip,

Makes me wonder if the HP2 has a shorter "throw" of its throttle compared to the standard GS.Can anyone confirm this?

All the other parts of the throttle assembly, cables, pully in the bowden box etc are showing the same numbers so should be the same across the range.

Part numbers for throttle grip (not heated on HP2sport)

HP2 sport 61317694850
HP2 enduro 61312352034
HP2 megamoto 61317695470
05 r1200gs 61317673550
They are 120 us dollars.

I'm in the car trade and I will get one from a bmw car dealer and if it is no different I can take it back, let you know in a couple of weeks.:thumb

Bluebird, you are a star - that is the single on thing that needs sorting on my GS - I'll be watching this thread with baited breath :thumb2

boxerdesign.de does have quick action throttle kits, its a dead easy fitment and works a treat.

Ah ha.................I looked there too but I've an '05 and it's not listed. Just checked the '08 section and it's listed for '08 onwards :thumb2

Can't think what's changed over the years :nenau I'll mail them and see if it'll fit my 05

Excellent

Just done a quick cross reference on a 08 gs and the handle bar grip is the same part number as a 04-07 HP2 enduro.:rob

I reckon its the same, unless a standard gs is different from the HP'S ,
no reason for them to change it really:thumb

The one I found is labeled:

Kopie_Short-stroke throttle cable adapter set R 1200 GS, R, ST, S (2004-2007 models)

There are two part numbers though (PE539/2 or PE539/1, though only the /2 comes up in English). I searched for Throttle, after having first selected the R1200 GS until 2007

I can't seem to get anything other than the original link, which didn't work the first time, but works fine now i've found the page again. I guess its using my cache. Sorry for no direct link, but throttle should work in a search.

Oh and in case the search was weird. I originally looked under the R1200Adventure (as I have an 06 Adv). TS

Good that you found it, there had been a glitch in the website, so it wasnt listed on all model years. I bought it for my GSA 2007 from Boxerdesign and I am well pleased with it.

Its worth the 49 Euros, but I always wonder why the postage between the UK and Germany for example is so dear.

Before anyone else buys one of these a word of caution. Mine arrived yesterday so i decided to fit it today. Here's what i found

1. Poorly designed - it fouls the indicator cancel so you'd have to rely on the self cancel option.
2. Very poor quality materials - not sure what its made out of but it's very brittle and weak.
3. Expensive - 21euros for delivery of an item that should fit through the letter box (if it hadn't come in a box the size of a football).
4. Piss poor German only instructions - it's easy enough to sort out and fit without them, but for this price i'd like pictures that i can see easily and preferably an english translation.

It does however do what it says and improve the throttle, but i don't think its worth it at all. If i can get over the shock i'll post a better review with some pics tommorow.

I had a check on Boxerdesigns webpages and i have apparently got the correct part although it is marked up differently on the packaging.

I'll mail them later and see what they have to say.

Hmmm interesting......... I've got one too and it's awaiting fitment-when I get around to it,I'd agree with your points 2,3 & 4 but cannot comment on point one until I try and fit the thing but if your findings are correct I won't be a happy bunny:blast
I'd be interested to see your review and pics................

Had a dig around and fit may not be an issue. It looks as though i've got the wrong part - despite ordering the correct one of the website:blast.

Anyway review and photo's here.

I will Have a go

Hiya

Can you post some clear pics of the the bit that you clip under the throttle cable,

I reckon i can make one outta some plastic I 've got here if i can see how it sits on the twist grip:rob I need to see it of the grip.:thumb
