HP2E Headlamp

Bugger...discovered a crack in my headlamp glass today and went in my local dealer who told me that they would relieve me of £120 for a new unit
Have been told that a CIBIE or BOSCH 5 3/4" unit will fit (and boy are they alot cheaper). Anyone with any knowledge or could suggest alternatives etc

Anyone able to answer this as my headlamp is also cracked and needs replacing at some time (still works at the moment).

i think i'm right in saying, it won't fail an MOT unless the beam pattern is screwed.

I ended up biting the bullet and buying a new one from BMW - mostly because after I had cracked it in a fall, it later imploded on me showering me in glass when travelling at speed!
