Just had my 07 5400mile HP2E out for a wash and a polish this afternoon and it looks like the bike is leaning a bit more to the left than usual.

I usually set the stand on a wooden block to keep the bike more upright but I didn't today and i've noticed its leaning well over.

The bikes getting its 6000mile/10,000km service in the next few days so I phoned my local and very helpful BMW dealer in Edinburgh and it looks like the sidestand bracket isn't going to be covered by the extended warranty.

Any feedback or advice from other HP2E owners would be appreciated and I seem to recall someone was making a steel replacement mounting bracket rather than the one I have which appears to be made from some sort of soft German cheese. Scottish cheddar would have been more durable i'm sure...........!

It's been a bad week.....My 57 Buell Ulysses wheel bearing packed in at 1700miles and i'm fighting the yearnings for a 2010 BMW R1200ADV and selling my beloved and cherished HP2E. Please persuade me i'm thinking bad thoughts someone before it's too late.

I still have a love/hate relationship with my HP2, everytime I ride more than 250miles on I hate it and everytime I go for a short run on the bike I love it again......!

Don't do it!!

You only need to read the number of posts of people who sold their HP and now come back looking for another one!

In the meantime - get yourself one of these from Woody:

Super strong and raises the bike a couple degrees too.

Contact him here: www.woodyswheelworks.com

If you have any issues having it mailed from the states, let me know and I can bring one back for you :thumb2

HP2 side stand

Hello , BMW have changed the side stand bracket for the HP2 , it is now made out of steel , the extended waranty should cover it as it is a know fault ( thats why they changed the material its made out of ) . Approach your dealer again . ( by the why even though they have changed the material , the part number is the same ! ) I hope this helps

Too late, I already bought the Woody's part, maybe BMW will reimburse me?:toungincheek
