Okay. Done the offroad thing with the HP2E now and fed up with picking it up so now converting it to supermoto mode full time.

Have been looking at having the suspension changed, both front and rear, and am getting quite bewildered.

I have been quoted by MH Racing to have an Ohlins on the rear and the front re sprung. And it aint cheap!!! Not that that is a major issue, and it was a ride in ride out price and fully set up.

If i were to go the Wilbers route, which one do i go for? and who in the south east can set it up properly for me? Ditto White Power suspension

The other thing i want to do junk the original exhaust and put a new system front to rear.....possibly Remus. Anyone with any experience of how good the fit is etc etc

All advice gratefully received

Cheers

On the suspension front, it might be worth talking to Enduro Tech/Dr Shox who I think are in Essex. They're focused on Motocross and know a lot about shocks. Can probably help source/set up your bike.

With regards the Remus kit - I have the headers and a couple cans: the Evolution and the Grand Prix. The latter is not road legal but sounds awesome :green gri The fit is good and it has taken the abuse I've given it.

Got mine set up in SM mode. Got the standard stock and I am not sure if their has been any work done to my forks as I am the 5th owner!!!! But I am guessing they are standard.

I have never had sooooo much fun on a bike, I know lots of guys don't like the forks and air shock but I find they just add to the fun!!!! I love its bad road manners it picks up the front end no problem and the back end spins up when ridden hard on bump road..... Had a Tuono before which had better parts all round and was a GREAT bike, but the HP2 is just more FUN!!!!

Unless you are a very good rider save your cash and go on a few training courses...... probably improve your riding more

the bike came with a Remus system on it........ sounds bloody great...

just my thoughts....:augie

Thanks for the info.....

I am a police rider....does that count?:D

well i guess you can save your money on the courses then....:)

you are my ideal test mule:bounce1

ride it with standard set up for a bit, get the mods done and lets us all know if you think it is a. better bike b. as much fun...... c. it was worth the money

RichieS the SM setup accelerated the wear on my front forks and had them on for the last 9k miles. The HP2 went in on the weekend for replacement forks. If the bike is outside of warranty consider getting the front forks done by Dr Shox if you going to full SM trim.

By the time you notice this wear on the front forks it will be to late

Be carefull the SM trim will unleash the hooligan in you regardless of your riding background :D

Thanks for that info Mav.

Perhaps i was not totally clear in original post. The bike has been in SM trim for most of the time...it got 26k miles on it and i did the alps on it this year. Its just that i am going to uprate it and keep it permanently in SM mode.
Your pics are not that clear as to what wear there is. If you are saying that the circlip at the bottom gets worn.....mine already has that. Is that warranty issue? And is that due to the forks being too bouncy in trail mode?
And as for being a hooligan......always was....just want to be more of one now but dont tell the Old Bill!!!!:bounce1

You see that shiny bit on the lower fork legs where the blue coating has worn off, that is the lateral wear due to the grippy tyres on the SM outfit making it wear quicker. If the coating on your forks are worn off like that can near close guarantee that the bushings is knackered. Take the front wheel off and if you move the fork legs backwards and forwards with a click sound then you have problems

Thanks i'll check and report back

Richie

yep....they're not blue anymore:eek: First job tomorrow is to have the wheel off and check the play.

Bearing in mind i didn't get the bike until 23k, and the previous keeper commuted on it (!) it may well have been sorted.......but it is under warranty until March so shouldn't be an issue....i hope. Vines have always been good to me in the past. Watch this space.

Forks

Checked it out this morning, and a definate 'click' ......off to Vines. Watch this space......

Right, the upshot is, that there is a very small amount of play in it, but the mechs seem to think this is normal. I don t have an issue with this and take their advice, so an leaving alone for the time being.

But what i am having done is Wilbers springs put in the front end. That should stiffen things up nicely, and looking to get Wilbers on the rear......continue to watch this space!

I will check when I pick up my bike on Saturday whether they replaced the bottom part of the forks or not. This would drive me nuts if they have not as I would then check it on a more regular basis going forward

My feeling is on a £12k bike no clickety click is "normal" it should be perfect :D

Hi Richie would there be a chance you might be parting with the off/road wheels then and if so could I have first refusal ?????.If not, no harm done and good luck with the new setup.

If you can't be arsed to send them to Eire, can I have second refusal on those Enduro wheels? I am near Guildford and could collect......(depending on the price!)

Also, how much is the Wilbers rear shock?
My air shock snapped in half in Ireland in September.......

BMW have done the decent thing and replaced it, but I don't really trust the design of the air shock any more......

Enduro wheels

Thanks for the offer guys, but i want to keep them at this moment, coz i figure if i want to sell the bike, ( and i might do if i can find a megamoto) it would be better to sell with them

I would have attempted to upload a photo of my collapsed rear end but I'm büggered if I can work out how to do it.....so to speak....
Am I being very dense?
